Categories are used throughout Daylite for organising different types of information. This is referred to as Segmenting, You can set up different Categories for your Opportunities which are unique to you, or shared with other Category types.

Categories can be very useful to assist with tracking and reporting. As an example, a professional photographer might be commissioned for different types of photo shoots, such as Advertising, Fashion, Lifestyle, or Product. In such an example, you could create a Category for each photo shoot.

Pro Tip:

When configuring Categories in Daylite Preferences, make sure they are only applied to relevant Objects such as Opportunities.

In the example below, there are common Categories for both Opportunities and Projects, so these are checked accordingly. This means this list of Categories only appears in Opportunities and Project.

Now you can use Smart lists to filter different Opportunities based on Category. The Smart list below will filter all the Open Opportunities that have a Product Category.
