# Opportunity Types

Daylite provides another way of segmenting Opportunities thanks to **Opportunity Types**.

An Opportunity Type *describes what an Opportunity is,* as opposed to a Category, *which describes the topic of the Opportunity.*

New Business and Repeat Business are both default examples that come pre-loaded in Daylite, however you may wish to set up your own Opportunity Types, based on your business needs.

* Navigate to **Settings > Opportunities > Opportunity Types**.
* Tap the **+** or **-** buttons to add or remove an Opportunity Type.
* Check the **Active** box to display in Daylite.

**Pro Tip:**

To help prevent confusion, remember to either delete or deactivate any Opportunity Types you do not use.

* Opportunity Types you create and activate will be displayed in a New Opportunity's **type** drop down menu.

**Did you know?**

Providing your users with clearly defined options from drop down lists is the best way to ensure that the data going into Daylite remains consistent.

This in turn will help you when using that data to **search** or create **smart lists**.
