How to Bulk Edit
Bulk Edit in Daylite changes the same field on many records in one action. You can apply a Category to fifty Contacts, reassign a set of Opportunities to another team member, or fix a field that an import filled in incorrectly — without opening each record individually. Bulk Edit is available in Daylite on Mac only.
Key facts:
Access Bulk Edit via Daylite > Edit > Bulk Edit
Bulk Edit is available on Mac only — not on iPhone or iPad
You edit one record type at a time — you cannot select a mix of People and Opportunities
Only the fields you check are changed; everything you leave unchecked is untouched
The value you set replaces the existing value on every selected record except in cases of multi-value fields such as Keywords where it appends
Changes apply immediately and sync to all devices — there is no undo
Before You Start
Bulk Edit has no undo. Check your selection before you click Apply — the number of records selected is shown at the bottom of the list. If you are unsure, run the edit on two or three records first and confirm the result
The safest approach is to build the list first and edit second. A Smart List or a search result gives you exactly the records that meet your criteria, so your selection is deliberate rather than whatever happened to be on screen.
How Do You Select Records for Bulk Edit in Daylite?
Open the list you want to work from — a Smart List, a search result, or a list view such as People.
Select the records you want to change:
Click the first record, then Shift-click the last to select a range.
Or hold ⌘ and click individual records.
Or press ⌘A to select everything in the current list.
Check the item count at the bottom of the list to confirm how many records you have selected.
How Do You Apply a Bulk Edit in Daylite?
Go to Daylite > Edit > Bulk Edit.
Click the checkbox beside the field you want to change.
Set the new value for that field.
Repeat for any additional fields you want to change in the same pass.
Click Apply.
Daylite writes the new value to every selected record. Fields you did not check are left exactly as they were.
The fields offered in the Bulk Edit window depend on the record type you selected such as People, Companies, Opportunities, Projects, Tasks, or Appointments.
When Should You Use Bulk Edit in Daylite?
Correcting an import. A contact list comes in without a Category, or with the wrong owner. Filter to the imported records, select them, and set the correct value once.
Segmenting a group of Contacts. You have searched for everyone who came from a tradeshow and want them categorized so a Smart List can pick them up later.
Reassigning work. A team member leaves or takes over an account list, and their Opportunities need a new owner.
Retiring a Keyword. You have decided a Keyword is no longer useful and want it cleared from the records carrying it.
