The Mail View
Find your way around the Mail view in Daylite. Explore the four panes, the icons in your message list, the Action bar, Priority Inbox, and the view on iPhone.
The Mail view is where you read and work with email in Daylite. On Mac, you open it by selecting My Mail in the Sidebar; it is laid out in four panes, with a toolbar for standard email actions and an Action bar for Daylite actions. On iPhone and iPad, you open it by selecting Mail in the Sidebar and choosing an account.
Key facts:
The Mac layout has four panes: Mailbox List, Message List, Message View, and Details Pane.
The Action bar is the row of Daylite actions below the message header, used to add an email to Daylite and create linked items from it.
Priority Inbox is a view that shows only messages involving Daylite contacts and users, plus flagged messages.
Icons in the Message List show at a glance which messages involve Daylite contacts and which are already in Daylite.
The Details Pane shows the Daylite details and activity for the contact on the selected message.

2. Message List
The Message List shows the messages and conversations in the selected mailbox. The search bar at the top of this pane looks up emails by contact or subject.
What the Icons in the Message List Mean
Icons in the Message List identify which messages involve Daylite, so you can scan the list without opening each message.

Thread count badge | The number of messages in the conversation |
3. Message View
The Message View shows the email or conversation you have selected in the Message List.
4. Details Pane
The Details Pane shows the details and activities of the Daylite items on the selected email. Its Activity tab shows the Tasks, Appointments, Opportunities, and Projects linked to the sender, so you can see the relationship without leaving your email.
Select Mail from the Sidebar, then choose an email account. The Message List shows your messages, and selecting one opens it on the right.
The mobile view does not use the four-pane layout, and the Daylite actions appear below the email title rather than in a separate Action bar.
What the Icons Mean on iPhone and iPad
The mobile Message List uses its own set of indicators:
Grey number beside the date
A thread exists, and how many messages it contains
Yellow sun

Greyed-out sun
At least one contact in the thread has been added. Open the thread to add the others
Paperclip
At least one linked item is attached to the email contact

Further options in the More menu

For how to compose, reply, forward, and redirect, see Sending and Replying to Email in Daylite.

What Is Priority Inbox?
Priority Inbox is an inbox view that surfaces messages connected to your business — emails from Daylite contacts and teammates — and keeps everything else out of the way until you turn it off.
Priority Inbox shows messages from:
People and Companies already saved in Daylite
Teammates who are Daylite users
Priority Inbox does not show:
Emails from senders who are not in your Daylite database
Newsletter subscriptions, unless they come from a Daylite contact
Promotional emails
Other messages not connected to your business
The Flagged group is the exception: it shows all flagged messages regardless of sender. To see every message, turn Priority Inbox off.
How Priority Inbox Groups Your Messages
When Priority Inbox is on, your messages are sorted into four groups:
New from Daylite Contacts — unread emails from anyone in your Daylite database.
New from Team — unread emails from your Daylite teammates.
Flagged — emails you have flagged for follow-up, from any sender.
Previously Read — read emails involving Daylite contacts or users.

How to Turn Priority Inbox on and off
Open My Mail in the Sidebar.
Select the Inbox folder.
Click Priority in the toolbar.
Click Priority again to turn it off and return to the standard chronological inbox.
Using Inbox Filters with Priority Inbox
Inbox filters refine the Message List further. They work whether Priority Inbox is on or off, and when it is on they apply within the Priority Inbox groups.
Click the filter icon next to the search bar.
Select a filter:
Unread — messages you have not read
Flagged — messages you have flagged
Attachments — messages with attachments
Daylite Contacts — messages from Daylite contacts
Daylite Users — messages from Daylite users

Mailboxes, Folders, and Switching between Accounts
The Mailbox List on the left holds each connected account with its own mailboxes and folders. You can view one account at a time or view all accounts together in a unified inbox.
To add another account, go to Daylite > Settings > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add Mail Account. See Mail in Daylite Settings.
Mail in Daylite does not create mailboxes. To add one, create it in another mail app and it appears in Mail in Daylite. Emails can be moved between mailboxes within the same account, but not between accounts.

Viewing Emails
Viewing an Individual Email
When you select a message, the Message View shows the subject, date, and recipient list at the top, with the Message List icons carried through, and the message body below.
The Details Pane on the right shows the contact details for the sender, and its Activity tab shows the Daylite activity linked to that contact.

Selecting a message opens it on the right. Tapping the > beside a contact's name opens their record in the Details View, where Edit lets you change the record.

The Activity View shows the contact's linked Emails, Appointments, Tasks, Files, Notes, and Forms in chronological order.

Viewing an Email Thread
When a message is part of a conversation, Daylite shows the full thread in the Message View. Each message in the thread displays its own date, sender, overflow menu, and Action bar.
The linked messages count at the top of the message section shows how many messages in the thread are in Daylite. Clicking it gives you the option to add or remove the whole conversation at once. See How to Add an Email to Daylite.
A grey number beside the date shows that a message is part of a thread and how many messages it contains. Open the thread to see each message and to add further contacts from it to Daylite.

Attachments in the Mail View
When a message or conversation contains attachments, Mail in Daylite shows an attachment strip listing every file. From the strip you can add all attachments to Daylite, add individual attachments, preview a file with Quick Look, save all files to your Mac, and choose whether attachments are included when the email is linked to a Project or Opportunity. The strip behaves the same way for single messages and for conversations.
