# Complying with Right to Erasure Requests

Under digital privacy laws like the GDPR, individuals have the right to request the deletion of their personal data. To help support your compliance efforts, Daylite offers tools that allow you to remove a contact’s data from your account.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** This article is intended as a general guideline for using Daylite to support GDPR compliance and does not constitute legal advice. Please consult your legal counsel to ensure full compliance with applicable laws. Keep in mind that even with a valid erasure request, certain records—such as those related to financial transactions—may need to be retained to meet legal obligations.<br>
{% endhint %}

1. Choose View > Multi-Column List
2. Select the Contact requesting to have their data erased in Daylite
3. Double click on the Contact to open their Activity View
4. Select an item from the Contact's Activity View
5. Press Delete from your keyboard
6. To retain the linked data, choose Unlink. To delete the data, choose Move to Trash
7. Repeat until all items are deleted or unlinked
8. Return to the contact in the Multi List view. The Contact should be highlighted for selection
9. Delete the Contact
10. Choose Window along the menu bar and select Trash
11. Select the items in the Trash and choose Delete

{% hint style="danger" %}
Items deleted from the Trash cannot be restored!
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.daylite.app/help/center/security-and-privacy/complying-with-right-to-erasure-requests.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
